Connect the Dots

I came across a commencement speech given by the late Steve Jobs to the 2005 Stanford University graduating class. In that speech he expounded on how our lives are like dots and as you look back you can connect the dots as to what brought you to the place where you are now. According to Jobs, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect the dots looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

You see, there is complete accuracy in hindsight because you actually know what happened and you can begin to see the interwoven connection of the pivotal times of your life. At the time it is happening you don’t understand it, but as time passes you garner a better revelation of its importance; regardless if it was good or bad.

While in its midst it can be so unpleasant and painful, your very thoughts center around when is all of this going to end. Just like a natural birth, once the agony and pain of the birthing process is over you can enjoy the baby. It is no different in connecting the dots of your life.

When I was young we played this game, you guessed it, Connect the Dots. Oftentimes the game was played to compensate for our boredom at church or in school. Someone would pull out a piece of paper and make lots of dots in rows and columns. Each person had their turn in drawing a line to connect one dot to another. As you drew these lines connecting the dots, you inevitably would make a box. Every time you created a box you took ownership by putting your initial in it. You also tried to prevent your opponent from closing off any boxes. The winner of the game had more boxes with their initial in them than the other person.

Just like that game. Each of us are drawing lines as we journey through life. Eventually we are making boxes. Howbeit we are playing against an invisible foe that also is drawing boxes on our canvass of life. As quickly as it seems we close off a box, he draws another line of attack against us. This level of game play supersedes any computer game on the market. He is actually playing against your very life.

I got a strategy for you that is proven to work. This strategy will ensure that you win the game every time. Steve Jobs stated we have hindsight but not foresight about the dots of our lives. I beg to differ. Howbeit he was accurate in his assessment that we have to trust the dots will connect in our future; additionally we have to trust the One who created the dots of our future.

You see, there is foresight when you team up with God. It doesn’t matter how many lines the enemy may draw against you, you know that God has closed off each box with your name in it. All you have to do is team up with God. Make God your head coach and He will provide you with proven strategies for success because the game has already been won.

PRAYER

Father, In life’s journey I may not always understand why things are happening, but I do know that what may have been meant for evil You will turn it around for my good. If you are for me that is more than the whole world against me. It is for this reason that I know that I have already won the game of life because Jesus fought the fight and won it all for me. Now I team up with You in knowing daily You make my way prosperous and I have exceptional success because of Your proven strategies that enables me to win every time. I am more than a conqueror because of Your love. Amen.

PRAYER FOR SUCCESS Jul 31

Father, Apply Your spiritual saliva on my eyes so I can see clearly. No longer will the blurriness of vision prevent me from moving forward. Now I am able to proceed confidently in the pathway You paved for me. With each step, I possess all You envisioned for me as You daily make my way prosperous and I experience good success in all I do. Amen.

Father, Bless us to work together and effectively communicate with each other so we can accomplish phenomenal feats we could never do alone. In Your infinite wisdom, You didn’t just create us to function alone, but You created us to use our intellectual properties to achieve greatness. Father, When I gaze into the mirror I’ve grown to see the person You see. I’m able to peer beyond this dirt suit of a body to envision the awesome person You have blessed with immeasurable gifts and talents to soar to greatness. No longer do I allow the gravitational limitations of this world to prevent me from soaring to heights unimaginable to the common mindset. Amen.

Father, My relationships with others don’t complete me, they complement me; but my relationship with You completes and complements me. My foundational dominion of self-discipline is built on the interdependence of my relationships with You and others. Thus enabling me to not only respect and love me, but to respect and love You with all my heart, mind and soul and to love and respect others as well. Amen.

Father, I thank You for the gift of the present. It is such an awesome present as it ushers me into Your presence. In the awesomeness of Your presence, I embrace intimacy that flows seamlessly into unbridled passion as I nurture and cherish the gift of the present enabling me to bask in Your presence. Amen.

Consistency of Persistence

“You’re consistent and God is going to reward you for your consistency,” a young man told me. He was talking about my commitment to my assignment in encouraging others to become all God envisioned so they can experience what God saw. It was at a time when I really needed to hear those words.

Some of you may be a little annoyed because I send these weekly emails faithfully. Or even that I blast out weekly text and email messages about Wisdom, Wealth & Riches with Jacqui. I even had someone say that they become weary of receiving frequent Facebook posts and had even thought of blocking me. Even family members complain they sometimes bypass my emails with the excuse that they will get to them later. But, none of it matters to me.

You see the consistency in my persistence moves beyond the complaints or annoyances. Success in anything means you have to embrace consistency and persistence in your bosom, hold them close, and never lose focus as you progress dogmatically towards your goal. How in the world can you be persistent if you are not consistent?

You see, persistence enables you to overcome insurmountable odds regardless of how lofty the obstacles. Your obstinate determination baffles others because they don’t understand when they can’t see anything productive happening. Consistency prevents you from looking at your circumstances and determining that you cannot continue to do this. Your consistent actions speak volumes about your not giving up just as much as your dogmatic attitude speaks to your persistence in overcoming every barrier.

Combined together consistency and persistence enable you to look in the face of any circumstance and proactively proceed towards your dreams with passion and desire. They enable you to silence the words of the dream busters because you are not doing what you do for them, but you are doing it all for the purpose in which you were created.

No one ever became successful or wealthy because they adhered to the standards of others. They set their standards because of the burning passion of desire inside of them. Regardless if others could see their vision or not, they would not stop. Jesus was one of them.

They did it when they were tired, and they did when they weren’t. They did it when they had money and they did when they didn’t. They did it when there was no one who supported them and they did it when there were others supporting them. They did it when they didn’t have the resources and they did it when they did have them. They did it in the good times and they did it in the bad. In essence, there was absolutely nothing to prevent them from pursuing their burning passion. They were dogmatic, determined and unstoppable!

Age had nothing to do with it. Gender had nothing do with it. Ethnicity or race had nothing do with it. Neither did their economic status. They transcended the big ole’ butts of excuses and focused on their goals because they knew the inflamed desire was beyond them and there was no limitation that could stop them.

Yes I am consistent and persistent regardless of the circumstances. I am determined, and I pray you are too in fulfilling your mandate on the earth.

PRAYER

Father, I thank You for giving me fervency of spirit that empowers me with strength and potency to succeed. My passion drives me beyond the fear of impotency into a place of potency in fulfilling the fullness of my potential. I will forever be consistent in my persistence regardless of the obstacles and annoyances. I am unstoppable in pursuing the passions and desires You placed inside of me. Amen.

PRAYER FOR SUCCESS Jul 24

Father, While I was in the valley of the shadow of death it seemed like it was unbearable and I thought I would not make it through. Because of it I am able to bask in the knowledge of where I’ve been, embrace and celebrate the gift of the present, with a clearer view as to where I’m going. For this, I’m thankful for the valley moments that prepared me for the mountaintop victories. Amen.
