Today is Christmas once again, according to the calendar. On December 25th, we celebrate Christmas, virtually all around the world. We gather with family and friends to spend a joyous holiday eating, laughing and just enjoying each other’s company.
Then, the joyous festivities come to an end. Before we know it, we are back into the humdrum of life. The hectic schedules, the rudiments of work with its demanding deadlines and responsibilities, not to mention our commitments to family and friends. We find ourselves right back trying to juggle our demanding schedules. Somehow, the joy of Christmas becomes a blur as the days distant themselves from December 25th.
The joy associated with Christmas can be experienced every day throughout the year. It is an intense feeling that transcends happiness. It is rooted in longing and nurturing a relationship with Jesus. At Christmas we steal away from our frenetic lifestyles to celebrate the birth of Jesus. His birth represents communion with Him. We emulate God when He unselfishly gave His only begotten son by spreading love and joy and giving of gifts. During this time, we give unselfishly of ourselves with presents and the ultimate gift of our presence. All of these brings us Christmas joy.
I implore upon you not to abandon the joy of Christmas when December 25th comes to end but stretch out Christmas joy throughout the year. Make time to gather with family and friends. Give the best gift of your presence to those who feel lonely or are alone. Give gifts to those less fortunate. Most importantly, find time to steal away every day to bask in the presence of Jesus. You will emerge with a renewed vigor in spreading and experiencing Christmas joy throughout the entire year.
Have a Merry Awesomely Blessed Joyous Christmas!
